About us
Health Leaders Journal UK is dedicated to empowering healthcare professionals with the insights, tools, and resources needed to drive innovation and lead with confidence.
Our mission is to foster a community of healthcare leaders who are equipped to tackle the challenges of today and shape the future of healthcare. Health leaders are keen to improve the care provision and we work in partnership to influence the change through articles that are stimulating, thought provoking and motivating for bringing a change that improves patient safety and support the health care providers.
Ambition is Infectious
APNA is a South Asian word which when translated means ‘Our’. It shares the diversity of thoughts and views of South Asian Heritage NHS leaders who are proud to be members of the NHS, thereby calling it “our NHS”. APNA stands for Asian Professionals’ National Alliance, which is a voluntary body. APNA NHS is formed of South Asian Heritage NHS health and social care workers and acts as a platform for us to have our collective voices heard through collaboration and active engagement. We have three overarching aims:
- To influence policy to eliminate inequalities and deliver parity of outcomes and opportunities for South Asian NHS patients, communities and staff
- To actively work in partnership with decision-makers to develop understanding, and tackle racism and discrimination throughout all functions of the NHS
- To create awareness of, and celebrate, the cultural heritage and diversity of lived experiences of South Asian communities to drive positive ED&I practices.
Since 2022 we have continued to grow of the brand of APNA and what we want to be known for, embedding: (i) our commitment to charitable causes; (ii) to diversify the South Asian career pipeline through development and support; (iii) harnessing the talent across the APNA membership to tackle the health and workforce inequalities; and (iv) create visible leadership.
Our 2022 Conference’ interactive session on lessons learned from Covid was particularly insightful, and we shared a write-up with NHSEI to support the development of future policies to ensure that the adverse impacts that Covid had on certain geographies, demographic of patients and staff group are considered in the early stages of planning for future pandemics.
